Well, it's been a while since I uploaded something decent on my account, and here's the reason why. This is the preview demo of a video game concept which was developed for my final major project on my art and design foundation course at college. Based on the theme 'rhythm', I created a video game concept which was soon developed by Game Maker. It is a unique combination of rhythm simulation and the action puzzle genre. All graphics were created by myself. All sound effects minus the voice samples were taken from various video game sources. Click 'Download' for the Stand alone file. The preview is not playable unfortuantly, but inorder to quit the program, just hit Esc.
EDIT: I would really like a comment from you if that's okay, it would really count toward my mark.
The concept reminds me of Pop 'n Music with a mix of other games. I think the characters are interesting, but the fact all the women are in belly shirts, kinda turns me away. Now this isn't a smack at your likes, this is the fact it kind of causes lack of variety for the outfits. I know you're thinking "but one has pants!" but that's not the point. I like the characters to have variety in visuals, you know? One should have.. well like overly loose clothing, or the Cleo Bara should have a one piece dress outfit. You know, stuff like that. Again, don't feel like this is a slam against you or your likes.
The game itself is interesting, but the lack of music kinda feels strange considering the emphasis on music. The little "do doots" get annoying very fast. There's usually royalty free music available on websites, that would help. The characters need to have different types of music to go with them, like hip-hop for Misako and rock for Johnny.
Get some music, work with the outfits and you have a killer game on hand!
Music is indeed an important factor that should definately be included. But I felt that it should of been something to compose myself despite not having any experiance. That's sort of why I left it out.
